Shinenergy locomotive traction transformer is an important part of AC electric locomotive, used to high voltage transform contact net made for supply voltage for traction motor and other motors, electrical work, the working principle is the same as common electric power transformer

Traction transformer is a special transformer for traction power supply system of electrified railway. It is used to supply power for electric locomotive. Basic principle: the original side of the traction transformer is connected with the two phase of the three-phase power system; one end of the auxiliary side is connected with the traction side bus, and the other end is connected with the track and the grounding grid. The traction transformer has a high capacity utilization, but the negative sequence current generated by the single-phase traction load in the power system is larger, and the power supply of the contact network can't achieve bilateral power supply. Therefore, this line is only applicable to the larger capacity of the power system, the more developed power network, the three-phase load power supply can be reliably supplied by the local power grid.
